Feedback from Mom and Dad

Christopher Robin

We’d like to thank Rhianna who sent us this picture for our “Save Chrisopther Robin Campaign” over on Storynory. She did the artwork herself to avoid any problems with copyright. It must have taken her a long time. She feels strongy about Disney’s callous firing of Christopher Robin from the cartoon version’s cast and is also campaigning on her own blog. She asked us not to link back from Storynory, as some of her posts are not suitable for children.

Blogs by mums and dads have proved wonderful feedback for our Storynory podcast. We’ve managed to gather an idea of who is downloading our stories. Rhianna, for instance, is a Texan abroad, married to a man in the military, and has three children. In fact, we think it’s mostly the mums who are downloading, more on weekdays than at the weekends, and from America in the most significant numbers.

We learned that Toni lives in rural Wyoming and spends an hour and a half driving to Walmart with the kids. They listen to Storynories on the way. I think this partly explains the popularity of podcasting in America. It’s a big country, and there is a lot of driving to do. We don’t know if she burns them to CDs or plugs and iPod into the car stereo. We also see that Busy Mom emphasises travel during the holiday season as a time to listen play children’s stories in the car.

We get very valuable feedback that our American audience appreciates the English accent of Natasha, who reads our Storynories. We read this from bloggers like Hsien-Hsien Lee who doesn’t have an iPod.

We guess that our audience supports traditional values, such as classic children’s literature. Links from technology sites give us a big surge in visitors and subscribers, but the ones who stay with us tend to be the partents and teachers like The Smithie, a teacher from Kentucky, who doesn’t care for Disney much anyway.

If you running a venture online, or even off-line, you are missing out on a heap of valuable feedback if you are not plugged into the blogosphere.
