Britscaster’s forum for podcasters has pegged it, but we now have TWO to take its place. Nationalgrid, as mentioned previously, and Tea and Podcasts with a very nice clean and modern interface. Everyone seems to be on their best behaviour at both places, with no bitching as yet, but not many new people that I can see. I’m hovering, looking for a useful conversation to join to show willing….

Hi Hugh.
Thanks for the link, and thanks for the ‘clean and modern’ tag. People seem to think there’s a big rift in the UK podcasting community now and that everyone’s spoiling for a fight. This isn’t true, unless I’m looking at things through tinted specs. I know from being a temp admin on BritCaster that there are about 30-40 active posters and a large number of lurkers (maybe an unfairly dodgy term - those who just read without posting or signing in/up). Most of the regular BC folk have signed up for both forums and there also seems to be a notion that’s it a battle for supremacy and potshots - this isn’t the case. Sure, there’s rubble from the weekend fallout, but I think between the various site admins we’ve picked up the pieces between us and got on with things.
I’m not on the NG admin team, so I can’t say what cool stuff they’re planning. One of the things I want to start on TaP is a listener area to encourage people to post and feedback. It’s all very well having a forum for podcasters to post and such, but I think we’re missing a trick if we don’t listen to what the important people think - the subscribers, downloaders and listeners.
I think that’s the end of my diatribe and loose self-promotion. Love your work. Peace out.

Thanks for the plug. I feel good about having set up the un-hip, old fashioned forum.. and that’s because phpBB has version 3 in beta which will waltz around the block and still be back in time for tea.
As for bitching etc. etc. - there is a lot of denial around. Within a few hours of having set up our little forum there was flaming going on, spilling over from Bitchcaster… a swift ASBO sorted that out, and I notice that , even with no swear filter in place, it’s a very polite and helpful place already.
FYI we have a team of volunteer moderators now which should avoid any of the patricidal/matricidal attacks that poor old Neil and Jen sometimes used to suffer.
So, we should be ok… at least until the Christmas whiskey is downed to excess…
