“Ship Crap” says Business Evangelist.

“I’m saying it’s okay to ship crap – I’m not saying that it’s okay to stay crappy.”

If you are working on a cutting edge product, or just starting a new business, you should read Guy Kawaski’s post on the art of innovation. Kawaski was, of course, chief “evangelist” for Apple in the 1980s.

Most controversially, he says don’t be afraid to ship crap, so long as it’s truly innovative. He adds that you can’t stay crappy for too long. Innovation is “not an event, it’s a process”. So “Churn Baby Churn” and turn out those new product versions.

It’s probably good advice, but I’ll try to remember not to buy any products off the early stage companies backed by his Garage Technology Ventures.

Kawaski can’t be short of a bob or two, but he’s not letting any money slip through the net. He has Google ads down the side of his new blog, “Let The good times Role.” He’s only been blogging a couple of weeks, but his subscribers are heading for 2,500. So expect plenty of crap from his faithful followers.
