Scoble MacLeod Geek Dinner Podcast

Robert Scoble business card by Hugh MacLeod This podcast is a double interview with Microsoft Geek Blogger Robert Scoble and Hugh MacLeod, cartoonist, business guru, and blogger. You can download the audio here.

The picture shows The Scoble business card. You will note it does not bear the Microsoft logo, but a doodle by Hugh. Robert has been doing a European mini tour, covering Ireland, where he seems to have visited various breweries, Wales where his paternal ancestors come from, and France, where he delivered the key note speech for Les Blogs. On Saturday, Hugh threw a Geek dinner in his honour at The Texas Embassy – a restaurant here in London. Hugh is American, but he went to School in Scotland, and now lives in Cumbria, in the North of England.

Hugh has some great business maxims and succinct expressions on his blog. I decided to bounce some of them off Robert and see where the conversation took us. One thing that came out , was that he has turned down some better paid job offers to stay at Microsoft. So there are those who have tried to lure away the Scobleizer blog.

The podcast is almost 20 minutes long. There will be a few more little pieces from The Geek Dinner in a later podcast, including some words with Ben Metcalfe - and not all of them are four letter ones.

Liners: “Swotluck supper” is more accurate but less satisfying

The NY Post updates us on Thomas Hawk vs. PriceRitePhoto. Hugh Fraser points us to his audio interview with Robert Scoble and Hugh MacLeod at a London geek dinner (or “swotlatch”). Blog Network Watch ranks network blogs with a sophisticated,…

    kill yourself

[NB: Robert Scoble's Blogroll is here.] I had a really good time at the London Geek Dinner two nights ago. Always great to see the Scobles again, and nothing else I know gets so many British bloggers and geeks…

  3. Great evening – sorry to miss the microphone bit, let alone the champagne bar!

Good interview, too. I’m listening to it now – you’re getting some good energy from Scoble and MacCleod.

  6. [...] – Person of the conference, it’d have to be either Robert Scoble or Hugh McLeod. Hugh is a great character, very friendly, but very blunt too. On balance, though, I’d have to go for Robert. This is a guy who must have heard every technology sales pitch in the world and he still remains balanced and listens to everyone he meets, even though he must hear the same old stuff, conference-in, geek-dinner out. He seems tobe happy talking about almost anything, on the weblog or in person. Take this podcast for instance – Robert is asked a question that a mainstream reporter would never ask – why don’t you leave Microsoft and go somewhere else where you could write your weblog for more money? He deals with this question tremendously well. [...]
