Song Lyrics and Warner Chappell
I read that Warner Chappell, the music publishing arm of Warner Bros, is pursuing internet sites that publish song lyrics for free.
Big mistake. These sites help popularise the original recordings. So do the garage bands that play the covers, and have done since modern times immemorial. Stringent enforcement of copyright is not always in the best self-interest. I dcubt that they will sell a single extra sheet of song lyrics by doing this.
