There’s a strong rumour that AOL is about to spend $25m on Weblogs Inc, the publisher of numerous blogs including Engadget, which occupies the Technorati Number 2 spot for popularity. Jason Calacanis, founder of Weblogs Inc, is on a plane to San Francisco presumably to sign the deal. He’s not accepting comments on that post about his trip- at least until the ink is dry on the deal (I was tempted to write "good luck").
The Paid Content blog has the exclusive. Reuters seems to have followed it up, quoting sources with similar language to the blog, proving that blogs to feed the mainstream media. Meanwhile Nick Denton denies reports that he is in talks with News Corp to sell his Gawker media empire.
