Roach on the Net

Morgan Stanley’s chief economist and all-round guru Stephen Roach has some interesting reflections on 10 years of the internet on his analysis page (which, like much of the stuff published by the big brokerage houses, reads like a blog but isn’t called that). You can read it at www.morganstanley.com but here’s a taster.

"Content should drive technology," he argues. "Far too many of the early websites that I looked at were simply compiliations of pictures and press releases.  They were ‘one-click’ public relations efforts."

Quite so. That is certainly true of many blogs as well. There is no point in having the technology if you haven’t got the content.
